Despite them not being very useful at all, it's very common these days to see slideshow or sliders on website home pages. Keeping them looking great with your website is important, though. Here are a few tips on how to do that.
Don't overdo it with the images or text. Keeping each slide simple will keep your page from looking cluttered and difficult to take in. Too many images scattered about over various patterns and colors can make things really difficult to read.
This may seem pretty obvious but slides that don't take the site's design and layout into consideration do happen. In addition to looking disjointed, the page might start looking messy or unprofessional.
Sometimes adding text to an image slide is a good way to add more information on whatever you're highlighting. It's always a good idea to be consistent across your slides in your use of fonts. Additionally, you'll want to stay away from using fonts just because you can – use fonts that are in line with your branding. Doing so helps keep your brand consistent, cohesive, and recognizable.
Slideshows can be a successful tool on your home page (assuming you're not expecting good conversion rates from them). The key is to make sure they look great on your home page so you can entice your visitors more effectively. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about your home page slideshow.
